NPD Numbers: Nintendo DS and Guitar Hero

Nintendo had a great showing in the month of June. The Nintendo DS was the number one selling console for the month of June, and that for the most part probably has something to do with the release of Guitar Hero On Tour. Guitar Hero On Tour was the number two selling game and plus it was a 50 dollar price. Sony PSP also had a good month, selling more consoles than the Microsoft 36o and the Sony Playstation.

Utilizing unique, motion-sensitive Wii controls, players rotate platforms, capture pieces and stop the evil Meemoos in entirely new ways. Interactive backgrounds and new gameplay twists builds upon the addicting action found in the original. Up to four players can play in new modes that feature adversarial, cooperative and party play.

The Nintendo DS version boasts the same 3D gameplay that utilizes both screens, along with new levels, backgrounds and puzzle shapes unique to the handheld. Owners of both the DS and Wii versions will have access to unique gameplay modes utilizing the DS as a controller for the Wii which adds to the challenge and fun.

E3 2008: Resistance Retribution

For some reason during the Sony Conference, I was thinking about the fact that they needed to release Resistance for the PSP. And what do you know, Sony announced a version of the PS3 title to come to the PSP system. The name of the game is of course, Resistance Retribution. The game is developed by Insomniac Games.

E3 2008: The iPhone is a Portable Dreamcast

Kotaku has done an interview with the President of Sega America, Simon Jeffery and they talked about the recent success of the iPhone/iPod touch version of Super Monkey Ball. During the interview he was talking about how awesome the iPhone hardware is and he said that the iPhone has the same processing power as the original Dreamcast did. He said that the iPhone has several games in development from Sega.

In the Press Disc that was given to all of the Media outlets that was at the Nintendo Press Conference, it was confirmed that the Japan game Rhythm Tengoku will be released in America under the name Rhythm Heaven. 

The game is a music game that is sort of like mini games too. More information later on today.

E3 2008: Is Sony releasing Movie Downloads on the PSP?

There are rumors that Sony is going to release a new movie and television service for the Sony PSP. And this service will be enabled by the new firmware release of 4.05 for the PSP.
